European Weather and Snow This Coming Week

Howzit,

The week ahead
A bit of a repeat this week of last week. Over in the good'l U.S. of A. heavy snowfall has
been reported, (especially in the West) with around a metre of snow in Whistler in the
past week, and 30cm overnight in Banff. Europe unfortuanately is lagging so far.

A number of European resorts have delayed their openings although there are now
around 20 ski areas open, thanks in part to snow-making efforts and glaciers. A few
Scandinavian resorts have begun to open.

Temperatures in much of the Alpine area continue to fall, although slowly, toward
seasonal averages and conditions remain dry just about everywhere in mainland Europe.
The only precipitation is in the Atlanti and the Med (SW of Italy) Scottish mountains
should see some snow over the next few days, although high winds are expected.

For several days, the forecast models have been indicating a change in the continental
weather at the end of this month, so we watch and wait! It will come, but in the mean
time keep doing your excercises and chill. :)

Hold thumbs for next week...

Weather in Europe

European Weather and Snow This Coming Week
Much of the Alpine area will continue to experience above average temperatures for a few more days at least, although temperatures are dropping and most forecasts indicate seasonal averages prevailing within a week or so. The weather will remain settled and (unfortunately) dry for most areas into next week.
European weather continues to be dominated by a blocking system of high pressure to the East, which brings milder than usual conditions to most of The Alps. Longer range forecasts are hinting at movement and we have our fingers crossed.
Some of the early-opening resorts have announced delayed openings this week - including Davos and Val Thorens - although glacier skiing is available at several resorts in Austria, Italy and France.
Unfortunately, our Worry Beads are not yet available. we are still only at mid-November and there is plenty of time for snows to come.
